This book was made by incorporating two different texts, Species of Space by Georges Perec and Smart by Shel Silverstein, into one book and using the format of an exquisite corpse to parallel these excerpts. The excerpt from Species of Space is about these tenants who live in a building together who each pay for their own electricity with separate lightbulbs in their shared water closet instead of just buying one lightbulb and splitting the cost of the electricity. The Shel Silverstein poem, Smart, is about a young boy who gets a dollar from his father and then trades it for a smaller amount of money in coins thinking that five pennies is more than one dollar because five is greater than one. I put these two texts together because they both are about backwards logic and the format of the exquisite corpse lends its self to getting mixed up. The Perec text is on the dark blue paper and the Silverstein text is on the yellow.
